Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The pharmaceutical chemistry laboratories are meant to inculcate the chemical aspects of drug molecules starting from the basic organic chemistry to drug design and synthesis of newer drugs. Students are trained to identify and extract newer chemicals and toxins from natural sources. Students are taught to determine the extent of purity of raw materials and drugs in pharmaceutical dosage forms by using highly sophisticated instruments..

Facilities

Medicinal Chemistry I & II Lab

The lab is equipped with sophisticated instruments like Analytical Balances, equipments and glassware pertaining to quantitative analysis of various drugs by I.P., B.P., U.S.P. methods. Various experiments set up of the lab include Acid base, Redox, Complexometric, Gravimetric, Non-aqueous, potentiometric, spectrophotometric titrations, Karl Fischer titrations, Fluorimetric estimations, Conductometric estimation of buffer capacity etc.


Organic Chemistry/ Chemistry of Natural Drugs Lab

The lab has sophisticated instruments like Colorimeters, Conductivity meters, Digital pH meters, Flame-photometers, Karl-Fischers apparatus, Photofluorimeter, Polarimeter, potentiometer, Refractrometer, Spectrophotometer. Various experiments set up of the lab include Experiments based on Instrumental methods of analysis.


Biochemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry Lab

The lab is well equipped with instruments like Fume cupboards, Centrifuges, microscopes, glassware and other requirements for qualitative and quantitative estimation of various biochemicals. Various experiments set up of the lab include qualitative and quantitative estimation of various biochemicals. Separate balance room is provided with each laboratory.


Pharmaceutical Analysis/ Instrumental Analysis Laboratory

The Advanced instrument Lab consist of state of the art Instruments like UV Double beam Spectrophotometer, Shimadzu 1700, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), FTIR-8400 S-Shimadzu, Single Pan Balance, Shimadzu, Photomicrograph, Brookefield's Viscometer, I.R Moisture Balance, Flame photometer, 6 station Dissolution Rate Test Apparatus.
